Upcoming Rec and Park Programs and Events

50's Plus is now meeting on the first Thursday of every month at 11:30 a.m.  Bring a large covered dish to the Ridgeland Recreational Center at Old Trace Park and enjoy food, fellowship and fun!  For a reservation, call Lynda at 601-856-6876. 

Mayor's Wellness Walk will be on Wednesday, October 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Northpark Mall. 

Trunk or Treat will be at Freedom Ridge Park on Thursday, October 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. 

Upcoming Community Events in Ridgeland

Fire Prevention Week is October 5 - 11.  Ridgeland Fire Department will be conducting numerous fire safety programs at local schools, childcare centers and other locations.  The Fire Prevention Week Grand Finale will be at Northpark Mall in the Food Court on Saturday, October 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  There will be visits from Sparky the Firedog, safety activities and fun "give-aways" for pre-school and elementary school children, as well as informative safety brochures for adults.  The Mississippi Department of Health Emergency Medical Services for Children Division is sponsoring Pluggy the Fireplug and Andy the Ambulance, robotic talking characters, to visit with children at the event.  A Ridgeland Fire truck and an AMR ambulance will be parked outside the food court for children to explore.

Kerioth Corporation's 3rd Annual Fall Festival will be held on October 18, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Township at Colony Park.  This is a family-oriented event filled with food and activities for all ages.  Plans include a chili cookoff, pony rides/petting zoo, caricature drawings, live music, and much more.  If your team is interested in registering for the chil cookoff, complete the team registration information.

The 1st Annual Ridgeland Fat-Tire Weekend is October 18 - 19 at the Ridgeland Trails.  On Saturday, October 18, a 3 mile Time-Trial Race starts at 3:00 p.m. and it will be followed by a tailgate party with live music until 8:00 p.m.  Families are welcome.  The final race of the South Central Regional Championship Series titled McGee Lungbuster XC Race begins at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 19.  Other activities that day include an awards ceremony and a hot tub give-away at this spectator friendly event.  The public is invited to watch the race and enjoy the outdoors. School News

Christ Covenant School's fall fundraiser, Fall Into Fun, is planned for October 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. This is a familiy-oriented event open to the public.  Call Janet Shotts, Development Director, for tickets and raffle information at 601-941-5556.
