Greenwood Plantation Photo

Greenwood Plantation was built in 1854 by the cotton planter Colonel William Fenil Battley, Sr. It is
believed that the home was spared during the Civil War because the Union general, a Mason, noticed
the Mason emblem above the home’s door. The Battley family owned the home until 1925. The
property was next passed to the Redmont family where it remained for the next 58 years. Greenwood
Plantation has seen depression and war and has served as both the family home, working farm, and oil
land. The Redmont family owned the property until Mark S. Jordan company purchased it in 2000 for an
exclusive limited-edition development to ensure that Greenwood Plantation would remain in private
hands
