Amnesty Program in Ridgeland
The Ridgeland Police Department in conjunction with the Ridgeland Municipal Court and Ridgeland City Prosecutor will conduct an Amnesty Program for people with outstanding warrants for unpaid fines due to traffic violations, or misdemeanor criminal offenses. The Amnesty period will begin Feb. 22, 2016 and end March 4, 2016.
This program is for defendants/violators who have an outstanding fine with the Ridgeland Municipal Court and who have had an arrest warrant issued against them. The Amnesty Program provides individuals the opportunity to pay their full outstanding fines and have the contempt of court fees waived. The City of Ridgeland is aware that paying off fines may be difficult during challenging economic times. Alternatives to an immediate full fine payment may be available to people who participate in the Amnesty Program. Under state law, a person convicted of contempt of court faces up to 6 months in jail and/or an additional fine up to $1000. Individuals taking part in the Amnesty Program will benefit by removing this additional fine.
Persons who have an outstanding warrant with the Ridgeland Municipal Court or who wish to determine if there is an arrest warrant for them may contact court services at 601-853-2001. The Municipal Court Services Building is open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and it is located at 115 West School Street, Ridgeland MS.
