Eloise Gilbert & Family

Photos of the Harris, Cummings, and Gilbert families: Patience Harris, an enslaved person owned by
James B. Yellowley, was brought to what is now Ridgeland in 1848 and is said to be his daughter.
Patience is the great grandmother of Eloise Harris Gilbert who was a charter member of the Historical
Society of Ridgeland and Viola Harris Hill who represents the Harris family today.
